Dob Brook Close, Newton Heath: award-winning affordable homes built by PLP Construction for The Guinness Partnership

Family-run main contractor · Est. 1982

Building relationships in the community.

New build and refurbishment for local authorities, housing associations, schools and private clients across the North West. Delivered by our own local team, right first time.

Who we are

A local builder, with the track record of a regional contractor.

PLP was founded in Heywood by Phil Bradley in 1982 and is still run by the Bradley family. Most of our work is done by our own directly employed, locally based team. Most of them have been with us for more than five years.

That continuity is why clients come back. Housing associations, councils and schools trust us with occupied, sensitive sites because the people who start a job are the people who finish it, and they live just down the road.

How we work

Right First Time, from pre-contract to aftercare.

Our approach
  1. 01

    Early engagement

We get involved before contract wherever we can. Pre-contract analysis and meetings with the design team help us find design issues while they're still drawings, not variations.

  2. 02

    Local team, mobilised

Our own directly employed site team, most of whom have been with us more than five years, supported by a local supply chain we've worked with for years.

  3. 03

    Right First Time

Our ISO 9001 quality system aims for zero defects. We empower the people doing the work to get it right first time, which cuts down on defects, waste and duplication.

  4. 04

    Considerate on site

We keep schools, residents and neighbours informed and safe. That approach earned three national Considerate Constructors awards in a single year.

  5. 05

    Defects-free handover

We plan handover with the client team so it's free of defects, with user guides and equipment training for the people who'll run the building.

  6. 06

    Aftercare

We stay with the building through the Defect Liability Period and encourage proactive maintenance to protect its whole-life value.

Social value

Every £1 you spend with us works £2.84 harder locally.

We employ from the community we build in and buy from a local supply chain we've used for years, so almost all of the money our clients spend stays in the North West. Try it on your own scheme.

This was a project I was dreading but it turned out to be one of the easiest projects I have had to deal with and this is all because of the ease if working with you.
