How we work
Right First Time isn't a slogan. It's a system.
An ISO 9001 quality system, a directly employed team and a local supply chain, all aiming for zero defects at handover.
Our process
From first drawing to the end of defects
- 01
Early engagement
We get involved before contract wherever we can. Pre-contract analysis and meetings with the design team help us find design issues while they're still drawings, not variations.
- 02
Local team, mobilised
Our own directly employed site team, most of whom have been with us more than five years, supported by a local supply chain we've worked with for years.
- 03
Right First Time
Our ISO 9001 quality system aims for zero defects. We empower the people doing the work to get it right first time, which cuts down on defects, waste and duplication.
- 04
Considerate on site
We keep schools, residents and neighbours informed and safe. That approach earned three national Considerate Constructors awards in a single year.
- 05
Defects-free handover
We plan handover with the client team so it's free of defects, with user guides and equipment training for the people who'll run the building.
- 06
Aftercare
We stay with the building through the Defect Liability Period and encourage proactive maintenance to protect its whole-life value.
Frameworks
Innovation Chain North
PLP Construction is appointed to Great Places Housing Group's £750m Innovation Chain North framework, on the social housing, modular housing and groundworks lots. Social value sits at the heart of it.
The framework supports new homes across the north of England, both for Great Places' development programme and for other housing associations in the region. 183 companies applied.

Working around people
Most of our sites are next to people's homes, classrooms or services that can't stop. We partition works areas, plan deliveries around critical times, brief site managers every day and keep pupils, staff, residents and the public safe throughout.
At Rochdale Crematorium that meant installing temporary containerised cremators so the service could keep running. At St Luke's RC Primary it meant a two-storey junior block delivered on a 20-week programme while the school stayed open.

What size of project do you take on?
Everything from a 10-week classroom extension to multi-million-pound new build housing and commercial schemes. In 2020 we ran 30 projects in a single year.

The North West, from our base in Heywood. Most of our work is across Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire, with schemes as far as Halifax, Huddersfield and Blackburn.
Do you work on design & build contracts?

We are appointed to Great Places Housing Group's £750m Innovation Chain North framework (social housing, modular housing and groundworks lots), which is open to other housing associations across the North.
